Does a professional resume REALLY matter?

Yes.

Hiring a professional writer to interview you, listen to your goals, and then craft a jaw-dropping, goosebump-inflicting resume really does make all the difference in the world when it comes time to send that resume out into the universe.

While anyone can fill out an application or list where they’ve worked, for how long, and some of the things they’ve accomplished at their jobs, it truly takes an insightful, skilled, professional writer to sift through your experiences, skills, and accomplishments and then present the ones that will show you in the best spotlight to help you reach your goals. If you worked in the hospitality industry for 5 years, for example, but now want to design graphics for computer games, THAT’s the area, jargon, and terminology that ought to be on your resume – not your life story about doing barback work or delivering papers when you were 14.

The goal, point, or objective of a resume is NOT to tell your life story; it is to capture a decision-maker’s attention by showing him/her that your are focused, skilled, educated, passionate, and/or experienced in a particular field.

And that’s not easy to do! You know that! How many hours have you sat searching through books or on the internet hoping to find someone with the same background as you so that you could “borrow” their wording for your resume? Why waste your most precious commodity – your time?!

Hiring a professional writer allows you to free up a lot of time and release yourself from all that anxiety of wondering if what you have produced and sent out to the universe is good enough to get noticed – to get that phone interview.

How can you tell if your current resume is good enough? Simple.

How many interviews have you gotten lately? If you are getting bombarded with legitmate, real offers for interviews to actual companies that you would be thrilled to work for, great! Your resume is working for you; however, if you spend your time going through SPAM emails and waiting for the phone to ring, there IS something wrong with your resume.

You didn’t say something wrong in the interview. You didn’t sport the wrong outfit. You didn’t have spinach in your teeth. You never got a call! And you never got a call because your resume got overlooked.

That’s not right. And it doesn’t have to be like that. YOU are CHOOSING that experience by not investing in yourself and getting a professional resume created. Period.

There is no feeling like sending out a resume that is beautifully designed, cleverly crafted, and well-written. You feel confident and proud to send it out. You are excited to talk about it and the accomplishments on it.

Unlike a pizza on a Friday night, a resume is NOT something you spend money on or buy once a week or once a month or even once a year. You invest in yourself ONCE in your professional working career with a great resume. Once! Then you have the writing service update it and tweak your resume and information as you continue to move forward in your career.

While the initial investment may seem like a lot; what is your time and life worth to you ? Do you want to take any job that comes along, or do you want to pick and choose where you want to spend 40+ hours away from your home, your family, and your animals?

Keep sending your version of your resume out and track the results. If you don’t hear from anyone, maybe it is time to do something.
