If “Grow Email List” has been on your “To Do” list for longer than you can remember, today’s the day to plant those seeds so you can reap the harvest from your efforts way sooner rather than much later.

First, however, to get started on growing your email list, you need a game plan. If you just keep carelessly aiming in the dark with hopes at dawn you’ll have countless new contacts on your email list, you won’t. You need a strategy to grow your email list — then you simply implement it, nurture it, and watch it blossom!

Or, you can just use my tried-and-true plan to grow your email list. (Why waste time reinventing the wheel?)

Whether:

  • you’re just getting started on growing an email list,
  • have grown more useless weeds than rich blossoms, or
  • it’s been a hit and miss experience for you for a few seasons now,

my stress-free step-by-step plan to create, grow, and sustain your email list will help you.

Before you can implement any of my steps to grow your email list, however, you’ll need a website. And not just any website. You’ll want to create a website that makes it super easy to accomplish your #1 goal: to grow your email list. So, don’t spend countless hours (or dollars) on creating a pretty or crazily-customized website. (You can always go back and tweak sections of it once it’s up and running, but you don’t want to waste time focusing on the platform when, instead, you can be generating new contacts for your email list). Check out WordPress for your website design. They have both lots of free designs and for-purchase professional designs you can buy for a few bucks. While you don’t want to get caught up in the minutiae that can easily come with creating a website, there are 2 effective tactics you’ll want to be sure to include on your website:

Tactic #1: An opt-in form.
In your website’s header area (a.k.a. “above the fold”) – the space at the top of your website your visitors first see before they start scrolling down – include a “live” box they can click on to fill out a quick form to be added to your email list.

Tactic #2: Add 6 more opt-in forms.
In case they missed it, you’ll want to include this link to the email list form on the top of every page of your website and/or as a “pop-up” on any page, at the end of every SEO-keyword-rich blog, or even within the blogs.
