Career Apathy

If you are feeling blue and apathetic regarding your job search process, here are several ideas to think about and, perhaps, put into action.

1) Don’t beat yourself up! You have so much going for you! Everyone does. Each person has certain skills, gifts, and talents like no other.

2) Figure out what you L-O-V-E doing. How do you spend your free time? What do you love to do that never feels like a job or a burden? Golfing? Scrapbooking? Hunting? Working out? Whatever it is – think about that field and all the possible jobs available in that industry. Your passion for it and knowledge acquired over the years about it will automatically make you a prime candidate for a position in that field.

3) Get some great resumes in order. That’s resumeS, (plural), for a reason! Have one resume customized for each industry in which you are interested.

4) Pray. Get on your knees and pray. Whether it’s to the universe, some higher power, God, or all of the above. Pray for guidance. Help. Direction. Peace. (Prayer is free, no one has to know you are doing it behind locked doors, and you have nothing to lose.)

5) Spend this “free” time that you have doing something for someone else. A couple of times a week, just do something for someone else – help them move, bake them brownies, visit them and play cards, give someone else (who needs it) your undivided attention.

Before you know it, everything will gently swirl into place.
